Who is BAKO?

BAKO is a leading supplier of bakery products and ingredients to customers throughout the UK.

They have been established for over 60 years with headquarters in Preston, with business units in Durham, Preston and Wimbledon.

The challenge

The client was seeking a new website as their current site was becoming dated.

The old site didn’t show their products, other than through a secure app, so there was a requirement to increase organic rankings and a back-end integration with MS Business Central.

The goal was to increase the information and orders for current customers and encourage new customers to sign up.

There was also a requirement for a bespoke, flexible and feature-rich content management system so the website can be updated by the BAKO team.

The solution

We ran a successful project together which included:

  • A strategy workshop to ensure we were taking a strategic-led approach to the new site
  • A design sprint workshop to review the brand strategy and agree the structure of the new site 
  • Reviewing wireframes and designs section-by-section, to make sure everything is technically achievable and works across all devices
  • A managed build process with sign off of each section in turn
  • A new enterprise-level website and CMS with lifespan of 3+ years
  • New search optimisation to better promote the website on Google
  • Post launch video monitoring to make sure visitors are finding the website easy-to-use
  • Ongoing support post-launch to make sure the website continues to perform well

The new website went live at www.bako.co.uk in August 2024.
